| Peaceful negatiotions: Israel & Hezbollah |

The following note was in response to an article by one of the courageous peace organizations in Israel, dated August 11th, 2006.. The article pointed out the flaws and futility in trying to resolve the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah through military means. It also proposed rational and peaceful methods of negotiation of the disputes between the entities. My response: “Yes, great. I need to say that Uri and other critics (for all their good intention and correct assessments of the behavior of the war mongers) of the generals and war mongering civilian leadership make the same mistake those on the right do: The generals and their cohorts know only of attack, when we all know that this only hardens "the enemy" and motivates them to attack back. This is also true in the rhetorical war, those on the left attack the war makers with their words which only hardens and motivate the war makers to continue the insanity of war. What to do? You are on the right track: push for sanity and workable solutions..What else? Scream in the ears of the war makers "you are too good, too smart to wage war and death" "Too good and too smart, Too good and too smart and TOO HUMAN, to keep mutual destruction going" Do this long enough and that humanity that they were born with (all babies are inherently loving and caring, eager to reach out with loving arms and trust, this is our first language - until bias, anger, hate, and rejection is poured into their ears - don't you remember?) will wake up from the great numbness and assert the human thing. Bless you for your courage and humanity. Jack

Re:Peaceful negatiotions: Israel & Hezbollah
Mar 13 2010 23:40:59 Sensible and just. The present situation is an example of the historic pattern of oppression; which is driven by fear of non-survival, a fundamental fear in all sentient beings. In humans this fear drives one or one group to dominate others in order to gain and benefit from the resources and riches. Many illogical unjust and irrational aspects of cultural and social beliefs flow from this, e.g. who is better than whom, who deserves more, who has value and who doesn't, who is right and who is wrong, etc.
These beliefs are fed into psycho/emotional systems of the young by their mentors, i.e, conditioning, so that as the young grow they continue the destructive (to themselves as well as thier targets) pattern - which perpetuates all the conflict. What you suggest is totally true, to get there requires a healing of the conditioned bias and fear. I outline one form of healing in my "Healing" section of this site. Thank you, immeasurably, for your contributions, Jack Donner |

Mar 09 2010 20:42:17 This area of the world is not unlike many hot spots of conflict. Two separate perspectives from two separate histories. Much more in common than anyone wants to admit. Both still playing the, I must be the winner-you must be the looser game, which will resolve nothing. If this or any conflict is to be settled, it will have to be from a perspective on both sides, that each has a right to their own beliefs, culture and existence, first. Then as equals move on to, how can we resolve this situation that doesn't work for either. How can it be resolved in the fastest, easiest and most equatable way possible, for all affected. What must each do, to contribute to the continued resolution of the situation. Then commit to do it, with all of the actions, time, energy and resources necessary, to accomplish the task at hand.
